L-R, Sarah Reiss (intern), Jennifer Brockpahler (director), Marla Martens (past intern), Connor Keenan (intern) and Alyssa Steinhagen (intern) are ready to paint some rocks at Summerfest in Campustown on June 4, 2016.
The Ames Community Arts Council has been very lucky to have amazing interns for the past few semesters and this summer is no exception! These three have already been making their mark on the organization, as they have assisted with the weekly newsletter and calendaring, numerous press releases, Studio Tour marketing pieces and even the amazing Intertwine Project. Oh, and let’s not forget the 100s of painted rocks they helped the kids (and adults) paint at Campustown’s Summerfest and the Ames Historical Center’s Ice Cream Social. We hope you get to meet them as they are out-and-about on behalf of the Ames Community Arts Council. If you see them, please be sure to say hello!
Hello, my name is Connor Keenan and I’m currently a senior at Iowa State University. I grew up in small town Perry, Iowa and graduated from Perry High School. I am an advertising major with a speech communications minor and I hope to one day create ads for a major advertisement firm and maybe even eventually own my own ad firm. I am an avid sports and pop culture fan. My favorite types of art are music and film, and I would like to write and direct my own film someday.
Hello friends! My name is Sarah Reiss and I am a soon to be senior at Iowa State University, majoring in Psychology. I am interning for the Ames Community Arts Council this summer in their Events Coordinator position. I will be focusing on is incorporating senior citizens into ACAC activities and projects. I am also hoping to assist with the media side of things, such as writing fun blogs and keeping up with our online presence. I chose the Ames Community Arts Council this summer because I love using non-profits in order to better peoples' lives. Some of my hobbies are going to music events, eating chocolate, spending time outside, and being crafty. |
I’m Alyssa Steinhagen, a senior at Iowa State University from Rockton, Illinois studying Public Relations and Arts and Visual Culture. I’ve been a member of the Iowa State University Dance team since my freshman year, where I have acted as captain for the 2015-2016 season and will be continuing that role in 2016-2017. I have previously interned at Design on Main, working with local artists and exhibition design and also at 317 Studio & Gallery, where I assisted with teaching painting classes and managed open studio space. My interests include dancing, cats, ice cream, and painting. I’m excited to be working with the Arts Council and hope to contribute to as well as learn about community art and its communications processes.
