Bike Rack Design Competition

Ames Community Arts Council, City of Ames, and community supporters sponsored a competition for six unique bicycle racks for the Ames community. A call for entries was launched June 1, 2012. Thirteen designs were submitted by seven artists. A jury of design experts selected the final designs and winners were notified February 1, 2013. Six designs by four artists were chosen. The winning designs were installed in downtown Ames. A public dedication and ribbon cutting was held on September 22, 2013 during the Octagon’s Arts Festival.
